What is Candid?

Candid is a way for you to voice your opinion about specific topics, without having your ideas linked to your personal information. Social media is a great way to share and view content from your friends. It's not always to best place to brag about your new orca-skin coat. Axon 7 EU build - RAM management issue?

Helllo,

Been running my Axon on and off for a week (not yet my daily driver due to being lazy with backing up my old phone)... Anyway one thing I have noticed is that the phone seems to be always running at over 50% RAM usage. If I launch one app - or anything else - and then clear all it will revert to running at a variable 1.6 to 2GB of 'available RAM.

Is this normal?

Since 4GB is supposed to be 'wayyy' more than enough (as reviews on the OnePlus3 naysayers would have me believe) I don't expect to have an out of the box phone running at more than 50% RAM usage - this doesn't make sense to my non-technical self. On my i9300 (Galaxy S3) I run CyanogenMod 13 and that OS runs at 260MB of RAM vs 850MB on the Axon! Can someone explain?

I'm running the B3 update but had this before I applied it.

LG G2 F320S , SRK tool 2.1 not working for me anymore

Dear Friends,
I have LG G2 F320S and its bricked with no download mode. 1st I successfully unbrick it with SRK tool 2.1 and install F320S30E_00.kdz rom but while rooting it goes back to bricked state. it happened for 3,4 times and I successfully unbrick it with SRK tool all the time. Now its bricked again and SRK tool is no more working. SRK tool flashes .img files fine but mobile did not boot into download mode. I have tried number of times but all in vain. Tried different partition files( .img) from different firmwares but for no avail. Unable to boot into download mode. Please somebody help me to unbrick my mobile. thnx

Unboxing

This Bluetooth Speaker is so compact that it fits in my hand without any issue, extremely portable.

Sound Quality

As regards the sound quality it is pretty good and super-loud. The sound is clear, doesn't lack low-frequencies and considering the size of the speaker it is definitely a pretty good one.








Conclusions

Well i admit that a Bluetooth Speaker isn't so easy to review because the tests that can be made except Sound Quality ones are not so interesting, so if you find this review a bit incomplete just let me know and i will try to reply you in the best way possible.

This is a good-quality Speaker, featuring also an useful Camera Button (remote shutter) that can be pretty useful when you need to take some photos without handling the device.

So...do I recommend it? If you need a portable speaker that provides good sound quality, then this is a good choice.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned about this phone being overpriced, I already have the LG G5 and the X Performance, was thinking about getting this, but now I have to reconsidered, Hong Kong is selling this for HKD4198, which translate about USD540, I was expecting it to be about USD 350 to 400.

Fast Charge Speed

So, I exchanged my explodey note 7 for a non-explodey one.

I'm now having an issue with fast charging. With the old note 7 I would leave a game running while connected to the fast charger (samsung) and would gain percent fairly quickly.

Since the exchange, the phone holds steady and gains a percent every 30 minutes or so. If I disable quick charging I begin to gain percent at a reasonable rate. Not as fast as the old note 7 with quick charging, but notably faster than with quick charge enabled.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

How to Backup/Restore NVRAM

Requirements
1. ROOTED Phone
2. Turned ON USB Debugging
3. Installed ADB drivers
4. MTK Droid Tools

Process of Backup
1. Start MTK Droid Tools and connect device to PC
2. Wait before "Phone information" get filled information about phone.
3. If the bottom left is lit yellow rectangle in the right MTK Droid Tools lower-right corner, click ROOT (if you get confirmation window, click Yes) and look on the screen of your device, it will be necessary to allow root access for MTK Droid Tools. If the rectangle is green, you can continue, if the blue, you haven't root rights.
4. After MTK Droid Tools got root access, press the big button IMEI / NVRAM, and click on the Backup button (make sure that there are two check boxes in front of buttons and Backup Restore)
5. All NVRAM backup section will take just a couple of seconds to backup. Backup will be stored in the same directory where is the .exe file of MTK Droid Tools, and you will get two files, one in .bin format, the other in .tar format

after upgrade to 4.2.1 through sp tools, screen stuck at boot

I tried flashing android 4.2.1 using sp tools. After the 'download' process completed in sp tools, I disconnected my phone, put the battery in and started it by pressing power button. It booted with showing boot screen "Canvas HD", but it is now stuck there for past 20 minutes. In all the video tutorials, it didn't take this much time. I fear something might have gone wrong. How can I save my phone?

Help with Suhide in Zenfone2

Hello guys, somebody can help me install Suhide on Zenfone 2? I've tried the guides I've found, everything went fine thru the install in temporary TWRP, but when I relock the bootloader I end up in a bootloop.

My steps:

1-Unlocked phone with the unlock.bat
2-Turn off Cellphone
3-Started in Bootloader
4-Flashed Temporary TWRP
5-Go into Recovery
6-Flashed Magisk, SuperSu for magisk (2.76), dropped command in terminal echo "SYSTEMLESS=true" > /data/.supersu, flashed SuperSu (2.78)
7-Reboot into Bootloader
8-Relock phone with restore.bat

Even if I just flash SuperSu for Magisk (2.76) and doesn't update to 2.78 my phone ends in Bootloop.

Are I missing something?

[Hardcore problem?] Stuck in loop, bootloader locked

Hello my friend just made an update of his phone which is a redmi 3 pro

His little bro shutdowned the phone while update was in process. The result is that now the phone have a bootloop, can't access the recovery (blackscreen when trying) and have a locked bootloader.
So I am not sur how to unlock the BL if I can't install a dev rom and can't boot. Not sur how to get into the recovery with the 2 same problems.

Could anyone help me for this one? Which is hard to me.

PS: I tried to do something with unpacking boot and remove a ",verify" thing in the ramdisk but I guess I'll need the unlockedbootloader to flash the new boot.img?

Good Debloater and Volume Hack?

I just rooted my phone using the Freeza method (Thumbs up). The rom unfortunately comes with 2 gazillion apps on it.

Does anyone know a good mod or program or zip to get many of them off? It is a lot of clutter. Also, anyone know of any volume hack zips or mods or Wanam Kit for Marsmallow?

huawei p8max dav-703l downgrade to android lollipop (emui 3.1)

hello, i am new to this site i signed up just to ask this question. i have spent so many hours trying to find a way to downgrade / roll back to the previous version of my device, i have tried to download the stock rom and install it that way but it does not work, it just says it cannot install the update and suggests a website for me to download the stock rom from, which i then downloaded to only find out it still gives me the same error message, is there anyway i can downgrade to lollipop(emui 3.1) from marshmallow (emui 4.0). can i flash the files over or something, please help, also i have tried to unlock the bootloader and everything but it wont allow me to do that, also if you are able to help me root the device then i wont need to rollback to a previous version, kingroot and anything similar only was able to root my phone when i was on lollipop ever since i upgraded kingroot wont root my phone, any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

Auto boot Acer Liquid E700 when device plugged in

Hi there,

I'd like to know if someone knows the trick to make my Acer Liquid E700 boot up when it's initially powered down and I connect a Micro USB cable in it.
Currently it's showing the Charging mode and waits that I boot up the device manually using the button.

I read lots of forums speaking about different solutions
- the /system/bin/ipod file (or lpm or playlpm...) to rewrite usind sh script and calling /system/bin/reboot for example -> didn't work on this phone in my case
- using fastboot commands like fastboot oem unlock (which is working) and then fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0 -> which didn't work also in my case.

Please if somebody knows this device and can help, I'd be very grateful!!

Issues flashing ROM

I'm having some issues flashing any ROM. TWRP will not wipe data, or internal SD

For some reason, when I go to wipe data and factory reset, TWRP will say it was successful, but nothing ever gets wiped. It will only wipe system if I choose to. I've gotten a ROM to flash but when it boots up, all of the old apps and user data are still there and it makes everything crash. I've gotten into settings to do a reset, it reboots into recovery, runs the script, and still nothing wipes.

What I have tried:

Old TWRP, newest TWRP
CWM (seems to wipe but it won't get past the note 2 screen after flashing anything)
Wiping with CWM, flashing TWRP, then flashing a ROM (still loops after the note 2 screen)

Is there a terminal command I can use in TWRP to manually wipe things?

Thanks for any help I can get, I've flashed so many phones I can't remember but I've never had this issue

Hello Greetings

i experimented alot with my wildfire S .... some times its carrier signals gets lost maybe because i dont know my carrier (when it bootsup it doesnot display any carrier so i randomely chose carier RUU but it failed)
i installed recovery rooted and installed miui (my phone is marvel not marvel-c)

but now i want my phone back to orignal

im using MIUI

so here is my wish list please help me out...

1) i want to flash radios because when using my phone sometimes its signal is completely lost and restored only on reboot

2) any RUU i chose that i feel might be mine never successfully installed so plz guide me how can i know about that

3) i purchased this phone in Asia Pakistan so plz help chosing my RUU or how can i get to orignal or factory phoned condition

4) i dont know about radio flashing plzz help me with that

5) i downloaded an RUU from a link of XDA has uploaded on a site ....i thought that RUU is because its radio version matched with the version displayed at my phones bootloader

6) i tryed to extract ROM.zip from that same radio matching RUU in ubuntu using OpenRUU i installed Wine as well but when i execute extactrom.sh it runs but when i run that htcRUU.exe using wine program loader it shows installation process a little bit but disappears after a while and OpenRUU keeps on running but never gets ROM.zip


i will be very thankfull to u if u help me with it i have flashed many roms and rooted b4 on my google nexus so u dont have to write alot but explanation of everything will be appreciated so u can give me links where i can read all walkthroughs

Recover Removed Bloatware using ROM Toolbox Lite

I removed some of the Bloatware in my phone using ROM Toolbox lite and then I uninstalled the app. Now I want to restore the Bloatware but when I reinstalled the app I couldn't find the apps. Is it possible to recover out any other way reinstall the Bloatware without flashing the stock ROM again.

[HELP] Complete Brick

Hello everyone, my zenfone 2 (ZE551ML), is completely dead.
I had a brick, so I almost brought it back to life with this guide:

All seemed to work, but on the final step, when I had to reboot after flashing system, the device doesn't boot.

The bad fact is that now it doesn't vibrate when I hold the power button, o power+vol up, or plug in charging.
No signs of life at all.

Any suggestions?

I have a Joying JY-NL124 android car radio, which does not have an accelerometer. I bought the Yocto 3d V2 http://ift.tt/2cyCynE to see if I could get it to work with torque and other android apps for the track but although android sees the device the apps do not. I am not a programmer, but is there a way to get the apps to recognize an external accelerometer like some do for an external GPS?

E:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument) fix?

Is this a concern? For some reason I can not update to the latest update G930PVPU2APH7 and the only thing I can think of or have narrowed down is this. The update always failed at 32% and I get the yellow triangle with the ! in it, and the phone reboots, and says the system update failed. So I'm guessing at 32% it tries to mount /data, can't/won't and fails. Any help would be great.

(I power off device from recovery)

Audio recording/Camcorder audio to loud (Distorts)

Hello, i've been using MIUI 4.4.4, CM11 and CM12.1 and the audio on the Camcorder and voice messaging sounds TOO LOUD, and very distorted, cannot audio chat while on the street.

Tried to go to Retail 4.4.2 and the issue isn't there.

This is the first device i ever had where you can't use the sd card as a storage and for apps. It's either or.

[ROM/GUIDE] Full Updates / Back to Stock Files via TWRP (A2017U, A2017G, A2017)

Ok, I wasn't going to create a new Thread for this but is really needed to keep this a little separate but in the same thread, so here i'll be updating base on current updates for each variant this Thread will contain Current Updates and as for now current updates are :

REQUIREMENTS :
- Plain and simple, you just need TWRP. Either via @tenfar Tools or happens that you already have TWRP install.

Each steps will contain 2 files which are:

1- BootStack
2- System+Boot

Q: Why 2 Flashable Zip Files?
A: Well cuz a lot of us know you CAN use / try other variant system image , i have separate what is just needed to for that purpose, meaning if A2017U want to give a shot to A2017G or A2017 software you will just need to Wipe Cache -Dalvik - Data and Flash the A2017G or A2017 Flashable system file or vice-versa.
The Bootstack just need to be flash ONCE per variant, the A2017G CAN'T use A2017U Bootstack (well you probably can but is not recommended) .

It's safe to say that people aren't pleased with said advertisements. Yes, we understand why you need advertisements, but frankly, to put up NSFW advertisements on a site that MAY be used by those who aren't comfortable to seeing such content, like OAPs and children.

After all, this is supposed to be a smartphone-modding/developing site, with today's (2012-2016 - at the time of writing) main course being custom Android OSes, usually provided in the form of flashable ZIP packages, and NOT a porn site.

Need your advise what to do HP Touch Pad

Hello to everyone ... I'm new here and I register to site because I notice on google this site about what one can do with the HP Touch Pad and I'm hoping to get this unit up to par . I must say I never used before it was given to me by a family member and I just never bother using until this week as to what I could do with it . So just to add it has 16gb and what is installed is HP TouchPad webOS 3.0.5 which seem to be pretty useless . Also, CyanogenMod ..... cm_tenderloin build .... Android 4.1.2 ... Kernel version 2.6.35-palm-tenderloin Mar 3 2013 . Now I have seen threads in this forum towards this pad . My question is what would you do with it if you had what I have install ? Hi all, I've an mt7-l09v100r001c00b145. As I remember with patched firmware with cwm and open bootloader for root. So a update to the OTA version MT7-L09_WestEurope_C900B331 fail.

So I need a strategy ideally to go back to stock boot loader and recovery, to update the OTA updates and at least with ROOT feature. Ideally a update strategy, to save all application settings.

If this is not available, I would like to do a force update of a FULL working rom. But need hints for the correct strategy.

nobody was explaining enough good the difference between Official OxygenOS and the Community Edition one.

Even CE release threads are not exhaustive, since changelog is not alluding to any comparison with official firmware.

[Q] Replacing headphone jack

A week ago the audio on the left side of any earphone I plugged into my xiaomi mi4 started to crackle.
After a week there is no sound at all anymore, unless I push the jack connector sitting in the phone to the front it is completely fine. When I release my finger the sound on the left side is completely gone. At first I thought it might be a software problem but after this I think it's something with the audio jack inside the phone. I found the part on aliexpress and I think it's worth a try. I think it must be soldered on the motherboard though. I can't really find any similar threads on forums about the mi4 so I think it's not a common problem with this phone. Can anyone help me out or push me in the right direction. Thanks.

Best Swappiness for the moto e?

Currently it looks like the swappiness in kernel settings is set to 100%...typically this is around 60...on hi ram devices it might be set to something low like 10 to be resistant to swapping...still 100% seems really high....I've also noticed when several apps have been installed to the device after a while of sitting it becomes unusable due to non-responsiveness. Reboot it and it will be allright for a while...so I think the apps are eating up the memory and the swap is dragging everything to a crawl. Anyone have some suggested "Kernel Adiuter" settings?

[ISSUE][OOS] Are you experiencing audio noise?

I'm sadly having audio noise on bottom speaker, when volume is enough low.
Since I installed GravityBox with audio tweaks, I tried disabling the module, but same result.
I'm running latest official OxygenOS (v3.2.6).

Is someone encountering that issue?
You think it's hardware related, or may be fixed with upcoming updates?

Always on (not) - has this been fixed/figured out yet?

I have an LG G Watch R that i have had for some time and i have been thinking of upgrading. But one thing has bugged me for over a year. Don't know if its a bug or an ehem feature but the Always On mode, simply isnt. When i first factory reset the watch it seems to stay always on for days, but then for no reason i can figure out starts turning off the screen.

My watch is on the all the Latest updates to date
Android Wear 1.5.0.3269884, Google Play 9.6.83, Anroid 6.0.1 Sec Patch 5 Sept 2016.
Settings: Always On is on, DND off, Cinema off, Bright Boost off, Wrist Gestures On, Bluetooth is to my phone.

This leads me to a couple of questions:

1. Is there a fix for this on LG?
2. Is there something wrong with my watch in particular?
3. Are there any "true" always on watches that actually DO stay on?

Need help for Samsung S6 cannot power up

So this is our main problem.

What do you think about this?

With media.stagefright.codecremote=false prop the glitch is gone and all working fine on aosp camera (but logcat message still persist). But in google camera still persist a green flickering on video record.

Camera issues after upgrade to (stock) Marshmallow

So here's what happened: I upgraded stock 5.0.2 on my Romanian Orange branded G901F to stock Marshmallow (6.0.1, via the phone's update).
After the update, the phone's main camera crashed and (using the standard camera app) there would be an error message: "Warning. MediaServer failed. Camera needs restart" with only an "OK" button on it.

I've looked around the web for a while and tried everything, from clearing the app's cache and data to rolling back to 5.0.2 (another stock ROM, so Knox is still intact), but nothing worked. The main camera crashes with the same error every single time, while the "selfie" camera works flawlessly (and has worked even on the 6.0.1).

Has anyone encountered something like this? Any solutions to this?

Note 4 SIM not recognizing/Mobile network not scanning

Hello everyone,
My T-Mobile Note 4 is not recognizing my sim at all. Hell it isn't even listing any mobile networks when I try to scan for them.

I did install a few custom roms in between to test them (MaximumOverDrive, NOBLE ROM) as well as kernals (freeza, Xceed) however I have reinstalled EPE3 stock via Odin now but still mobile network is not working.

Can anyone please tell me what to try/do to fix it?

Do you think S3 is ready to be a standalone daily driver?

I'm excited about the possibility of ditching a phone all together and using my watch as my cellular device. Obviously there are some limitations (won't be able to snapchat, so sad), but I'm okay with that! I think this watch might come close for my needs. I need to make calls, text, check email, use maps, and a password manager app (e.g. KeePass) would be nice.

Fast chrarging

Fast Charging
I have noticed that the fast charger really don't charge fast at all. Once in a blue moon I'll notice that it's working like it should but majority of the time, it takes as long as a regular charge. Smartwatch always on - well maybe if the wind is right

I have an LG G Watch R that i have had for some time and i have been thinking of upgrading. But one thing has bugged me for over a year. Don't know if its a bug or an ehem feature but the Always On mode, simply isnt. When i first factory reset the watch it seems to stay always on for days, but then for no reason i can figure out starts turning off the screen.

Are there any "true" always on recent smartwatches that actually DO stay on?

[XPOSED] Snorlax - Encounter Pokemons IV checker Pokemon Go (0.39.1 tested)

Hello guys.

I have developed a xposed module that lets you to check those pokemon's hidden stats before you catch them. This module is compatible with all Pokemon Go versions (including the lastest, 0.39.1).

Features:
- Prevent PokemonGo from detecting GPS is being spoofed (similar to Mock Mock Locations)
- Show pokemon stats as a system notification when you encounter them: IV's, HP, CP, level, moves, catch probability
- Show catch results: Success, missed, flee, etc.

All these features could be turned on or off on Snorlax's GUI.

Installation:

- Install Snorlax app
- Reboot

- Works for the lastest Pokemon Go version?
Unless the protos changes, it should be... i don't hook any pokemon go's classes, just HttpURLConnection implementations of getInputStream and getOutputStream

Quadrant Standard Gets New Unofficial Build

Hey everybody. Since the original devs decided to ditch new Updates and Support for new devices on Quadrant Standard since 2012, I have decided to update and remake the app for them. The App name has been changed to Quadrant Standard 2, to distinguish it better from the OG app. Below is the Changelog and Download Link for the App.

Can't Get Rid Of Security Notice On Rooted Note 7 VZW

Having a constant "Security Notice" on phone since rooting. Everything else works fine. Is there anyway I can maybe deactivate this function?
