Add Google account for sync?

I'm currently living in China and I need to buy a new phone. I like the look of the S7, but when I looked at the phone it had no option to add a Google account to sync contacts etc. Is it just simply a case of downloading an app to allow for Google contacts etc, or will this phone never be able to use Google accounts?

[For info: Google is blocked in China but on my current phone I use a VPN to access google and its services]
